PostSubject: Salvinis, firemouths, royal plecos and more...   Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:55 pm

Some of the fish I haven't been able to get pictures of finally came out for me! The royal plecos came out nicely.

As you can see, we acquired some firemouths for the 125 and another salvini today:-) penguin

I had two baby jags I decided just weren't a good idea to keep. I will slowly start steering away from the excessively large aggressive cichlids and would eventually like to acquire some nice geophagus. We will see what happens, it's a ways away.

I digress...once again, enjoy the pics!

I wish I could get a nice camera over here. Its just a point and shoot made by sony. It does have a pretty fast shutter speed but not as good as the dslr.

I knew he would be in good hands at y'alls place. Can't wait to get him settled in around here.

I was looking at your salvini picture again and I will have to work them in to a tank around here one day. They look nice.

Salvini cichlids are called mini Guapotes or mini Parachromis. They will live up to it too. Here is that female salvini holding her own against an RD.

I may or may not have been at animal jungle today. lol!

They had a sale on a bunch of fish going on but unfortunately I didn't buy anything. I was close to getting some geophagus and salvinis. It was a surprise stop in and I wasn't really in the position to get the fish back to Richmond. I thought about the pictures of your salvini the whole time I was there.

I was out with the family man. We ended up spending most of the day at the Virginia Aquarium and then spent the evening with some friends. This just me an excuse to go back. On a good note it was the first time the girlfriend has been there and she loved it.

What did they think of the Virginia Aquarium? I wish they had more freshwater displays.

I prefer the living museum personally. My daughter loved it though. I wish they had more fresh as well but I love the sting ray tank where you can pet them. My 3 year old was shoulder deep for about 30 mins petting them. We had a blast in that part but all in all I would change a few things if I ran the place.

I agree, we went out behind the aquarium for one of Jens classes and got to do tests and catch fish in the nets, It was pretty fun but like you said i wish they had like a Lake Malawi or Tanganyika Set up. When I think State Aquarium I want the big tanks stocked!
