PostSubject: SNAIL: where did he come from?   Wed Jun 19, 2013 10:46 pm

Tonight I was changing out the water in a 20 gallon and found a small snail clinging to the side of the glass.

Man was I surprised, this tank has been up and running for about a year with no plants.

It's just some simple ceramic decor I had laying around...

The last change to the tank was months ago when I added a few tetras.

I am perplexed as to where/how this little snail suddenly appeared...

Where did he/she come from?

Any snails in your other setups? New fish or plants in those setups? Could be some type of cross-contamination from your cleaning equipment, nets, exchange of filter media, etc. Just speculating.

Nets and filter media seem like the most likely culprit to me.  It wouldn't even have to be a snail, it could just be eggs that got transferred.

How is your little snail doing?
Are you overrun, yet? *lol*

One snail can be fun.  Do you know what kind it is?  I'm pretty good with snails, if you want to post a pic or describe it.
Very Happy
