PostSubject: What's the star system?   Wed Oct 16, 2013 8:50 pm

I see stars above my icon, and other peoples icons. What are they representative of? I have looked around the forum, but couldn't find the answer to my question. So, anyone know?

That is a good question. I am not certain but I think 3 stars are Forum Members, 4 stars are Moderators, and 5 stars are Admins. Maybe Deb or Liz will chime in when they can. They both have been temporarily inactive but should be back in full swing of things soon and let us all know the star system. I don't recall ever seeing 1 and 2 star members unless they represent sponsors or something. I will try to find out for you.

Ron is right.
There are no one or two star members.  A member gets three stars after 50 posts.
This means that they are a fairly active member.
The stars add interest but aren't necessary because post counts and ranks are displayed in the username box for all to see.
Very Happy

Thanks! My laptop is fixed, too. Very Happy

If anyone has any more questions about the star system, feel free to ask. We are not locked in to this particular system, it's just the one we happen to have. The post count of 50 can be changed easily, and there are any number of ways we can change the ranks and graphics that accompany them.

Deb definitely has her computer back. I'm green now! And we have no Index anymore. Now a Forum tab and Our Portal is now a Home tab. Glad to have you back Deb. You've brought this Forum a long way since it's inception.

Thanks for the kind words, Ron.Very Happy

I hope all the members like their new look.  We have a handsome forest green/dark gray combo for the Mods, an enhanced medium sky blue/dark gray for the members, and a crimson/dark gray combo for the Administrators.

10/27/2013
Other changes and enhancements to the user detail box were done today.

Labels: are now dark gray or darker gray.
:Values are now Steel Blue (like the background panels).

Label: value

Other fields may also display in Steel Blue.  Let me know if it's difficult to read.

I would get rid of the star system and make the color combos available to all. The current system comes across as elitist to me. Sorry to be so blunt but I'm not sure how else to put it.

It's also kind of redundant, since your posts are labeled with moderator ect* anyway and it's not self explanatory.

Forget about the stars, they're gone.

What I'm mainly concerned about is how the new colors read. If they are difficult to see, I need to know.
