OK, so I'd like to make sure that my seeded tank is cycled, and I'd like to do it fishlessly.

Where in the world do you get pure ammonia? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thanks!

In the past I have used:

ACE Hardware Ammonia Janitorial Strength

Hopefully you can find an ACE hardware store still open in your area.

You could ask some people on here to save and give you the dirty water from water changes.

Very cool, Tracey- the Ace in Scottsville has it. Just called them. I appreciate the tip!

I'm sure that this tank should really already be cycled, as I transferred a pretty good amount of cycled media from my other large canister, but I'd like to test with Am for a week or two to see if I get NO3, just to be sure.

I commend you for taking the time to make sure your tank is well cycled. I would not bother with adding Ammonia to create a measurable spike in nitrogen, if you have the time to wait and test. I might add a small amount fish food, wait as you have planned and then test away. I seems like you have taken the necessary precautions already... Neutral
