I've been meaning to ask about your amazing Avatar. What is he and is the photo accurate or has it been digitally altered? Really a beautiful fish.

Ha I wonder to. He was a picture online I found. My search for him continues. I would say photo shop. It is a Eureka red Peacock. Mine is a bit more Orange instead of red. Like in this cool video.

The tanks are looking nice. The venustus is still a little small to start showing a full blue face if it is a male.

Thanks! Yeah its face turns half blue when it gets excited. It is the size of my hand pretty much. I see others that are solid Blue face at a smaller size. So not sure.

I had 2 male venustus and neither would show full color until they were in the 8-9 inch range. I have seen a few smaller ones color up but they were in pretty peaceful setups and seemed to be the dominant male of the tank.

Excellent video! ThumbsUp Did you do any voice over this time?  I couldn't hear it, if so.  I miss hearing your narrations.

I notice you have quite a few fry.  What do you usually do with fry?  Do you have an arrangement with any local LFS?

Thanks all! I hate talking in the videos, so I didn't this time sorry. Deb I need to figure out what to do with my fry. I have two local fish shops that could care less whether I trade them in or not. They do not really know anything about Africans. And they do not carry anything that I would need to trade for. I need to figure it out soon as they are getting big! I was going to move some of my larger males to the big 180, and then maybe trade some in somewhere. I have a hard time letting go of my babies. hahaha. PAWS would be ideal. But its about an hour away.

I find myself in the same dilemma several times a year. I simply don't have enough tank space to house all the fish I produce  in order to get the ones I desire to keep. Some shop owners try to be helpful others do not. They know that the reason we bring in fish is because we need to free up tank space.

We are often allow ourselves to over value our stock. Many times LPS owners are able to purchase fish from their suppliers cheaper than what we think they are worth. LPS owner are business persons and know that the majority of their customers don't appreciate the value of some of our fish. Most pet stores have to concentrate on fish that sell well. They can't afford to do us too many favors and stay in business.

I have come to realize that my enjoyment in participating in the hobby outweighs making a profit selling offspring. If I'm able to trade for supplies like food and recover some tank space, I'm happy. I recently had to let go some of my most prized fish to further this years winter project. It's become a trade off. Either I accept that I'm not going to get anywhere near what the fish are worth to me or not advance with my plans.

It's a decision that sometimes has to be made. I hope you find a answer that suits you. I have found this this forum and members helpful when I have needed to rehome fish. Good luck...Smile
