About our Speaker and Program: “August 2014 Collection Trip to Peru.”

Rama Sabbakhan, JRAS member and owner/operator of Skoolz of Fish, will enthrall us with details of his most recent August 2014 collection trip to Peru.  Rama’s presentation will be based on aspects of this biogeographic fish collection trip to Peru where he collected discus, stingrays, multiple species of Gymnogeophagus and Crenicichla and other South American fishes from the Iquitos River in Piranha infested waters.  He learned firsthand what it takes to bring fish to hobbyist’s aquariums like your and my home.

Rama, for those of you who can remember that far back, gave our first JRAS program presentation at the Glen Allen County Library located at 10501 Staples Mill Road several years ago.  This first program was also on one of Rama’s numerous past collection trips to South America.

Rama plans on sharing this unique trip with us as a local tropical fish hobbyist, entrepreneur, and noted speaker.  His talk will also provide an overview of the various fish families found in and around South America and his efforts to continue building out his unique fish store, Skoolz of Fish.
