About our Speaker and Program:
“The ABC's of CO2 Systems for Freshwater Planted Tanks.”

John Martin, of Richmond, Virginia, has been in the aquarium hobby for 22 years, all starting with a 10 gallon tank his mother purchased for him when he was 7 years old.  In his early teens the discovery of a book at the library titled "The Aquarium Beautiful," featuring glossy photos of Dutch style planted aquariums got him hooked on planted tanks.  John's aquariums have been featured in The Aquatic Gardeners Association's Showcase/Contest, including a 2nd place award in 2002.  He has experience with an array of aquatic animals above and beyond freshwater tropical fish; from turtles and newts to high tech reef tanks growing SPS corals, anemones and clams.  Through his years in the hobby one thing has stayed consistent, his love for plants and planted freshwater aquariums.  John owns a 12 gallon and a 58 gallon freshwater planted aquarium.  John currently works for Rama Sabbakhan at Skoolz of Fish, where anyone can come check out their 180 gallon planted discus display.

John will be our main speaker for the evening, but David Sombach, of JRAS, will demonstrate how to build a Do It Yourself CO2 system for a smaller tank and then plans on placing this DIY system into our auction.  There will be multiple examples of CO2 systems, including setups for large, medium and very small tanks, and via carbon block, gas, and liquid means of CO2 infusion.  This is a great opportunity to learn how to really “Make your plants Pop!”
