PostSubject: Angels Breeding   Wed Dec 10, 2014 9:37 pm

I have never had Angels breed before but I happened to watch some interesting behavior with 2 Silver Tiger striped Angels tonight. Saw the male cleaning an Anubias leaf and chasing the other Angels and tank mates out of the area. The female was also protecting the area so I thought might be a couple days before they were ready. Ate dinner and happened to come by the tank again and saw the male gliding over the leaf and low and behold there were eggs all over it. Watched a little longer and saw the female go back lay some more and the male quite obligingly doing his thing. I was able to get a short video on my camera so as soon as I can figure out how to transfer to this post I will include for all of you. Sadly I don't have an available tank right now to transfer the leaf and eggs to protect and raise so with the Tetras, shrimp, snails all waiting for a unguarded moment I expect little or no success in rearing some babies. Nature will certainly take it's course but kind of exciting and fascinating to witness just the same.

That's awesome, congratulations. I hope one day to be able to have that happen.

you can use a mason jar loaded it up with M blue i mean heave and put an air stone uner the leaf so it comes up around the eggs...i have hatch a few batches like this...of course it doesnt help you out when they hatch and grow out

....lol
If you look close on the Anubia I have a pretty good crop of Black Beard Algae too. I think without adding CO2 I'm destined to keep it although sure would like it gone. I had posted several months ago about my fight with it.
But anyway thanks for the compliment. Been fun watching Mom n Dad so far.

Wow! I don't know how I missed this thread Ron. That was a great video and one good looking tank. I'm so happy to hear you recently witnessed your pair spawning. Angelfish are pretty cool...victory

Thanks Johnny. Wish I could have saved the babies but as you say too many fish too few tanks. The parents were great though. Stayed with the eggs, and fry to the bitter end. This is a community tank and now have very well fed Tetras. Since I began the thread they have bred 2 more times. Awesome parents.
