PostSubject: Logo adjustments   Sat Feb 04, 2012 2:14 pm

Here is what I'm working on for the logo. The reason I liked the original fish clip art design is because the squiggly lines in the middle could be made into the shape of our initials. I REALLY don't have the right graphics tools to do a great job with it, but I wanted to get opinions on whether we want to pursue this.

What I want is a program that I can open the image and then adjust the text in terms of angle, thickness and position, and move the letters into more of a stylized shape. If anyone knows of the right program to do this, please let me know! I feel like I could really do something nifty if I had the right program. I have Paintshop but I can't figure out how to do anything more than stretch text and turn it side to side.

In this example the font is not exactly right, and it competes with the name of the club to the right, but you get the idea.

Suggestions, please Very Happy

Hey. Can't help you with a program but as to the mid-section of the fish, this is exactly what I was thinking! I even tried to send you a pm about it but it wouldn't go.

Keep working on this idea, because I see "CVAS" in that fish!

Also, I suppose we will be changing the font style of the words?
Is that in the future?
Very Happy

I had not planned on changing the font of the words, particularly, but if there is another font that is more appealing with the eventual "CVAS" fish part of the design, then I'll change it.

I'm focusing on getting the inside of the fish to have CVAS in it for now, even if you have to really look at it to see what it is. In fact, I'd prefer it not be immediately recognizable as letters, but be similar to the original design, looking like stripes or squiggles, and further examination reveals that they are letters.

I will send Justin an email for sure! Thanks for the tip. I just KNOW there is a program that will let me do what I want, and probably Paintshop will do it if I knew how.

This is more like what I have in mind, but now I'm working on softening the straight lines, especially of the "A" to make it more curves. Getting my program figured out, slowly but surely....

Its looking good. The Caudal fin already looks like a "C". Maybe you can incorporate that in to give you more working space.

I see what Flipper means, but I'd be more inclined to suggest that you make the tail look more like a tail - more forked, for example - and continue to work with getting the letters CVAS to look as sinuous as the figure in the original clip art.

I agree the original does look like its fins were nipped.

Is it the last picture or maybe its me. The head looks more blurry around the outlines and in the eye.

Thanks - it somehow makes the club seem more legit to have a real logo, lol (or at least one that will do for the time being!).

I have another version with our forum addy in very small letters underneath the name of the club, and that's one we can use on bumper stickers or business cards. It would be so nice to be able to hand out a card when you meet someone at the LFS or when you're out and about.

Flip - I see that too. When I save this file from a CorelDraw file (no program can open it except CorelDraw, so it has to be saved as something else) I sometimes lose something in translation, and it took some trial and error, since every part of the logo is a "layer" if that makes any sense. I will see if I can fix it, but I honestly might mess things up so let's keep this one for now until I can do it without ruining the work done on the rest of it! I am by no means proficient with these graphics programs and what you see above is pretty much a miracle, sad to say.

Let me see what I can do, or maybe enlist Justin's help if need be.

T-shirts would be great. We need to discuss this at the meeting. I want a black one too. My neighbor just had a baby so maybe a bib with the logo too.... Laughing

I would definitely want a few for work and a few to wear out and about. I would even rock a hoodie.
