After a year the tank and fish have really shaped up.

I really enjoy the colors for the different species.  The LED lights show off the colors but are not overly strong to produce algae.  I have one small Pleco in the tank that seems to keep the glass clean of any brown algae now.

You've done a really nice job Steve, the fish seem very peaceful together and I agree, the colors are magnificent. It definetly takes a while to reach this point.

How many fish are you keeping in this tank?

Thanks guys.

Here is the fish list:

Current total for 125 gal
6x Labodochromis Caeuleus  (1 is in 55 middle)
3x Pseudotropheus socolofi Snow White
2x Pseudotropheus socolofi
6x  Pseudotropheus cyaneorhabdos Maingano
4x Rusties -- Iodotropheus sprengerae
4x Pseudotropheus ACEI  (2 are in 55 middle)
5x Pseudotropheus OB
1x Bristle Nose Pleco
6x Synodontis dwarf Perticola
----------------------------------------------------------------
37 total 3/30/15  (3 fish in 55 gal)

The Synodontis were for Fry control and added yesterday.  I had them in a smaller tank until they reached a good size to mix them.

The reason I moved a few fish were the Yellow Lab had some illness where it lost it's tail.  He/she is still alive and doing well in the other tank.

The two Acei's had some damage on the skin so I moved them.   Seems like the Acei's are beaten up more than the others in the tank.

Once healed I will move them all back.

Thanks again!

What an excellent tank! great What are the large brown overhanging structures?  More Universal Rocks?  Are the rocks in the landscape on the sand also Universal?

Deb;

Those rocks at the top are floating Universal Rocks and they really provide additional space for the fish to hide and get away from the chase.  I have floating plants inside the floating rocks --some Frog bits and Salvina.  Also, I use floating plants for food for the Mauna.  Most of the landscape rocks in the tank are from Universal Rocks but there are a few real rocks in the tank.  The background hides the filter intakes ad heaters. I have plumbing for the output the length of the tank and the water then flows back to the filter end.  This tank is a room divider and can be viewed on three sides.  The short end is against the wall.

I really like having the artificial rocks as they are easy to move and do maintenance -- less risk of breaking the glass.  I am very happy with the Universal Rocks.

Thanks,

Steve

I second that! I too love everything about it, Steve. The rocky overhang, background, hidden filter mechanism, it is all very well planned and considered, and the visual balance and natural feel is outstanding.

Great job!  ThumbsUp
