PostSubject: My new Synodontis!    Thu Apr 02, 2015 12:37 pm

Just got my first Synodontis ever, from Ron, yesterday.  He is moving, as you may know if you have read his posts, and some of his fish are for sale.  These two synos captured my attention right away and even though I haven't kept them before I decided to take the plunge.

There are two of them, one smaller than the other.  They look like S. nigriventis which will grow to about 4", SL.  As soon as I am able to do so, I'll post pix.

Are they young fish(?), it might just be the images but they look much smaller than what I have seen before.

That species doesn't get terribly large. The eruptus looks a little bit similar and can get fairly large.

Yes, I think they are young-ish - the bigger one is 75 mm SL (tip of snout to caudal peduncle), or just about three inches so there is still some growing to do.

There are 155 species of Synodontis, but only a handful of popular ones in the hobby.  S. eupterus seems to be the most popular.  S. nigriventris is one of the smaller ones, even smaller than some of the Microsynodontis species.

I'm super excited to have these guys!

@ Gerald, *lol*
