We already are close to 100 items registered.

If you have come to a past event, buying is pretty similar. One difference from the past is both fixed price(tag sale) and auction items will be purchased with a bidder number and the tab will be paid at the end.

For sellers we are no longer using minimum bids in the auction. The field is being used to allow sellers to enter a fixed price for the item.

@verbal is there any decision yet pertaining to the weather situation and the auction, or would that be more of a last-minute thing?

@Liz The facility will be open.

I would recommend making plans to attend Smile We will hold the auction if at all possible.

If there is a cancellation it will be tomorrow afternoon. Facebook and the PVAS forum will get the first updates, there also likely will be an email to the PVAS email list.

I will try to post a confirmation and item listing at that point here, but I might not have the time to do so.

Hope some of you are heading up to the auction today!  This overcast day is perfect for the drive north.  Can't wait to hear from those who attend. Very Happy

It was perfect auction weather - nice enough to travel, but not nice enough to want to go outside Smile

It was a great auction - we probably ended up with about 250 people at the auction at one point or another.

For those who missed out I definitely recommend attending the JRAS auction in 2 weeks. Also mark a couple dates in 2016 on your calendar:
Sunday April 3rd
Catfish Convention - October 13-16, 2016(Sunday is an all-day auction(free admission))

It was was a really great auction indeed - plenty of variety and options to fill every desire and need.

I was impressed with the flow of the auction, the auctioneers moved the sale steadily forward without a detriment to the sale price.

The place was packed, even into the late afternoon which to me was a bit unusual especially for a Sunday Auction. Probably as a result of the tremendous pre listing by sellers which allowed buyers to view the quality of items. Jesses right, people have been cooped up thanks to Joaquin so it was a chance to get out of the house!

I didn't buy anything, because I really don't need anything, but I did get to see Liz whom I haven't seen in a quite a long time. That was really great.

Also got to catch up with Lane (lkelly) and Rama and a number of other faces from Richmond that I recognize but don't know.

Guess who was the High Bidder on the Ray at the auction?

For those of you who may not be aware, Jesse (Verbal) is the PVAS auction chair and puts his heart, soul and mind into these events. He is always looking for ways, and implementing change, to improve the auctions for the benefit of the club, for the benefit of sellers and for the benefit of buyers. Helping him out over the past couple of years I have seen first hand his passion to move the hobby forward. That's not to overlook others, there are plenty of people who are critical in making it happen, but Jesse posts regularly on this site and so I thought I would make it known!

Thanks for the kind words. One of the keys to the improvement the auctions has been the tag sale which I can always count on Tracey to head up.

We had a really exciting start the auction where we had to resolve a couple underpriced items in the tag sale with an auction of those items.

I second Tracey's kudos to Jesse. He's is a real asset to the hobby, plus he rarely punches out people who outbid him for fish. His wife Laura even volunteers!

Nice to see you again Tracey. Hopefully you can make it down for the JRAS auction.

Did you see the "wrestling match" over angelfish late in the auction? Andrew was trying to get a group of angels and was trying to prevent Shawn Carlson from bidding.

Is Shawn the one who bid on about every fifth auction?  Has glasses?  I think he won the big Gymneogeophagus trio.  If so, that guy must have a lot of tanks.

Yeah that is him. He must have a good sized fish room. He at least bids on pretty every new world cichlid lot.

I think he lives on a farm in Western Loundon county.

SHOOT! I missed this! Shocked

Shawn is a very likable guy and is definetly a buyer who usually wins those items he decides to bid on.

I "think" he ships fish and other stuff to grand children and family who reside all over the country.
