JRAS Big Fall Auction!  Saturday, October 17, All Day!

The James River Aquarium Society is holding their first annual BIG Fall Auction on Saturday October 17!  Plan to attend this one, hosted by our local aquarium club!

Saturday, October 17, 2015  from 9:am - 4:pm ... mark your calendar!

Lots of vendors have been contacted for donations and many have replied!  Items have been received (or are on the way) from SeaChem, Marineland, CaribSea, Omega One (Omega Sea), Aqueon, and other top-of-the-line vendors.  And we will have lots of fish and plants, too!

We'll be using MyGroupAuctions to register and keep track of the goods.  For the auction rules and more information click anywhere on the poster above to visit the JRAS website at www.jras.org  or ask here.  Updates will be posted frequently.

Any idea what livestock will be available? Also, the JRAS website appears to be down.

There is nothing listed yet. I will be bringing red and yellow shrimp. Frank Cowherd will be bringing a nice variety of stuff that he breeds - swordtails, angels, blue rams, cories, etc. They also are getting a nice donation from Imperial Tropicals.

The JRAS website had a virus / attack and they are trying to figure out what happened.  So it will be down until that is resolved.  There is a Facebook info --> ( JRAS FB Page )

The meeting last night was great Mike Barber presented GoWildPeru from the Madre de Dios area (south west Peru ).   JRAS team is planning the auction and it will be be a good showing. As others have stated,  they are using the MyGroupAuctions site and you should find any preregistered items there, but most fish and anything live will be posted closer to Oct 17.  They will have bags for sale, a raffle, and many aquarium related hardgoods, fish and plants.

The PVAS Auction  ( PVAS SIte )  is Oct 4 also.

Keep in mind that half the items in the auction wont get entered into the MyGroupAuctions database until late the night before, or morning of the auction, since sellers often dont know exactly what's gonna be in each bag until they start harvesting, netting and bagging. That's been our expereince with the Raleigh auctions. Expect roughly twice as many items in the auction as what you see pre-registered on MGA the day before.

The only reason the PVAS auction is currently at 200 items is a combination of incentives and hounding sellers to list early. Even with those efforts, we probably will get 1/2 our listings the last 2 days.

Other fish that should be entered into the auction are the fish from my 75 gallon.  This will be mostly small catfish and three kinds of tetras.

11 clown plecos (Panaqolus maccus) - will be bagged one male and one female to a bag, where sex is known,
6 banjo catfish (Bunocephalus colombianus, B. coracoideus),
3 Otocinclus (probably macrospilus),
3 large Corydoras sp. aeneus (not the regular aeneus),
13 Aspidoras spilotus,
2 rubberlip plecos (Chaetostoma cf. milesi),
~ 15 Paracheirodon axelrodi - cardinal tetra
~ 25 Paracheirodon simulans - green neon tetra
2 Axelrodia riesei - ruby tetra

And there may be a few more or less depending on if we counted correctly.

David Sombach tells me that others from the local club are contributing fish and plants, but didn't say specifically what these would be.

I have personally contacted a number of vendors who have assured me that they will contribute items to this auction. Very Happy  That information is in the first post but you can expect updates as we go along.

JRAS website is back up.

This should be a great event. In addition to Deb's great donations there will be donations from a number of sponsors.

I will be attended and bringing at least some shrimp. If there is something buyers would be interested in I can see if I can bring some down to put in the auction.

I think Frank Cowherd will be attending which means - blue rams, great livebearers, cories and angels.

You should be able to register on http://mygroupauctions.com/ and associate yourself with JRAS, so that you see the auction and add items if you will be selling.

I think so.  You can probably confirm by emailing membership@jras.org if you haven't already.

You don't need to be a member to participate in the auction.  The "affiliation" is something that you do as a user in the MyGroupAuction system.  It allows you to view the auction and add items if you are selling.

Once you are registered in MyGroupAuctions, click on the circled area in this image:

That will let you select James River Aquarium Society.

In addition @JohnnyAMH, for the sellers the split is the same for member or guest/non-member  70 Seller 30% club.

Donations are welcome of course.  Should be a great auction as the planning committee has done a great job getting all sorts of donations from many vendors and suppliers.

Hope to see everyone there !!!!  JRAS website

They are also on Facebook.
