PostSubject: 46 Gallon Bowfront Setup- complete!   Fri Oct 09, 2015 10:38 am

Hi all,

As some of you know, my wife and I are in the process of relocating full time to our home in Florida (still.... Rolling Eyes ).    I have a 46 gallon bowfront setup that I need to part with. It's been running for about 2 years, and is a happy, well balanced, and peaceful tank.  It's really matured nicely.   Here's the build thread-

http://cvas.forumotion.com/t998-new-tank-setup-begins

I will try to get some updated photos put up soon.   There are two humungous  Anubias that are just rockin', and one small crypt now, with some very nice driftwood. It's changed quite a bit since it was built.   Here are the inhabitants:

6 Bloodfin tetras
4 Black Neon Tetras
5 Rummy Nose Tetras
5 Julii Cory Cats
4 Scissortail Rasboras
4 Zebra Danios
4 Pristilla tetras
2 Clown Plecos

It's a cool, clean tank, and runs great.  You get the tank, stand, top, heater, LED lights, UR backround, thermometer, and everything in the tank- the whole shebang.  As I did with my last tank (thanks, Ron!) I will be happy to give this setup to a CVAS member for the low low price of "$0".

There are a couple of catches, and here they are:

1) You must come over with your truck or SUV and your buckets, and take the whole setup (except the canister filter), lock stock and barrel- I will not part it out; I just don't have time.  I will help you break it down, net the livestock, and load it up.  You'll need your own filter, I can provide you with seed media from the canister I'm running now.  You can have it up and running in a matter of hours, depending on how far away you live!  I'm about 30 minutes west of Richmond, in Bumpass- Louisa county.

2) This is the big one-my intention is for this to be an opportunity for an experienced CVAS fishkeeper who has the time and space, to adopt and keep this tank.   Or, it's also a great opportunity for a newcomer in CVAS to get in the door with everything already there, cycled and running, if you wish.   Please don't ask for it if your intent is to profit from it.  I do not want to see this setup, or it's components, on Craigslist in a few days or weeks- it's yours to love and KEEP, and NOT sell.

Call it a "pay it forward" if you like- CVAS and the folks in it have given me a LOT of invaluable guidance and assistance when I got here a few years back learning the aquarium thing, and it is much appreciated.  I'm taking both my canisters to FL, and will use them in the not too far future, I hope- we have a great spot in our house for a 125!  Very Happy

Send me a PM, if you would like to adopt this tank.  First come, first served. Thanks!

DL

I would love to have that setup. I have been in this hobby for about 15 years now and have been itching to have a planted tank. It would love to be the one to get this tank.

Yeah, @DL Lawrence I'm glad you found someone willing to keep the tank running too. It would be a shame for such a nice tank to end up on on someone's garage floor or in the hands of someone just trying to make a buck off your kindness... Cool

Thanks, Deb!  Frank is coming to get the tank today- it'll be in good hands.  I'm glad it's going to a good home.  Looking forward to getting a 125 set up in the coming months.  I'll be back on the forum then asking lots of questions again, no doubt!  Laughing

You and your wife are going to be missed DL. You were a great member and supporter. I still have the great aquarium, stand, and canopy I was fortunate enough to receive from you. As you know, I too made a move, but I brought this aquarium with with me. I did a post a couple months ago about resealing and yours was the tank I had done that with. I have it set up and running in my office/sitting room and love it.
The fish and plants you gave me were given to the JRAS to auction at one of their meetings. I kept my promise to you to never sell or profit from from your generosity. I hope whoever received the above tank honors that also, and pays it forward when the time comes. That is truly the kind of thing that makes this such a wonderful hobby, and will continue it's growth and survival.
I really miss Richmond and all of the great CVAS group but I try to make it a point to pop in on the Forum regularly. I sure hope after you get settled in your new digs, that you also check in on us from time to time. I would hate not hearing from you and hearing about your new tank and experiences. Best of luck to you both and I hope you have a safe move.
Ron

Hi Ron! Hope things are great in Ohio! Glad to hear the tank is back up and running! I'll be popping in as well, and once the 125 gets moving (hopefully it won't be too far away) I'll be around the forum, for sure. You're right- there's a great bunch of folks here, no doubt! cheers

I remember this tank build very well and always thought it was a great set up.

You can tell "it's right" those Anubias plants are monsters!? And really are beautiful.

DL I do hope you will get another tank (a huge one) once you settle in to the Sunshine state, you are a an exceptional aquarist and there are plenty of fish and plants that need you! Very Happy

The set up went well. I can not thank you enough. The livestock are thriving. I have a photo but am not sure how to attach it.

Try this:

Click the icon in the reply box that looks like two squares, one in front of the other. (It's a floppy disk in front of a photo of a tree.)
Click browse to choose a photo from your computer.
Click Host it.
Click the third line - "image url" - to copy the image location.
Paste the line into your post, and attach image tags.  Image tags are the terms img and /img.
Add img enclosed by [] to the beginning of your image line, and /img enclosed by [] to the end of that line.

I cannot type out an example because it will be treated as a command and you will see nothing. Very Happy
