PostSubject: New 150 Gal Discus Tank   Thu Oct 29, 2015 7:18 pm

Hi all,
Here's a few pics of my new Discus Tank. Currently stocked with; Blue Diamond, Fire Red, Snakeskin Pigeon Blood, Checkerboad, and Brilliant Turqouis Discus, Cardinals, Bloodfins, Candycane Tetras, Clown Plecos, and a couple Whiptails. Plants are slow growing and still needing some taller background plants but beginning to shape up. Fish are small 3 to 4" so not full color yet but hoping they will make a nice display in next year or so.

Thanks all for the nice comments.
Donald, I used a layer of CaribSea Eco-Complete and Tahitian Moon on top. So far working pretty well. I think if I were doing it again, I would have used all Eco-Complete. Expensive, but looks pretty nice. I did get it at a really good price on Amazon with free delivery, but still expensive especially for large tanks. The background is black made by Blue Life USA (Also purchased on Amazon). It is very easy to install, however, with a big tank it take 2 people to do it right. I've used the kinds you see at LFS's and big box stores and have never been happy with the overall look when taping them on. Blue Life is actually held on with a water/dish soap combination then squeegied out. It was actually pretty easy to get all the air out if you follow the directions and their video. It's been on 3 months now and so far not the first sign of it beginning to lift off or getting moisture building up between the glass and background. I'm hoping when my plants fill in and gain height that the black will give them more "pop".

Ron, that is a beautiful tank - I am sure you will enjoy the Discus as they grow out to a mature size.

Congrats on the Discus tank! I have always wanted to have one. I just haven't been able to devote the tank space without sacrificing my Angels. I wish I was you. Enjoy!!!Hello

Gorgeous, Ron!! I particularly admire that branchy bit of (manzanita?) wood - it is hard to find a nice, long branch like that, and it is so effective in a big tank like yours. Great tank!
