Here's a pic of one of the wild Colombian rams (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) I got from Josh of Batfish Aquatics a couple of Saturdays ago at the Big Fish Deal, put on by the Capital Cichlid Association in Gaithersburg, MD. We had a GREAT time and I look forward to returning next year for the whole weekend.

I got 5 of these adorable beauties, but they are very shy in their new digs after Q and the are also very quick as they dart about. I know there is no situation in Colombia where they'd encounter such plants, lol, but they'll get used to it! The water is soft and neutral, and the temp is boosted for them. Soft water is important for them, more so than pH.

Once I get a pair established I'll be more than happy to share if anyone is interested in adding a bit of wild blood into their ram breeding program.

No, my other rams are M. altispinosus (I'm actually partial to them, but don't tell my new wild babies!). We'll see, though, I hope to have a breeding program going here before too long!

@Liz Great! I'm wishing you the best. I hear breeding Rams can be challenging. If anybody can do it you can... Cool

keeps us updated on the breeding program. I haven't been able to to see the pictures yet. They seem to block the images on my work computer.

Would be interested in some babies if you can get them to spawn Smile.
