Well my tank has gone through some changes.  The Java fern is gone, the Berdsmore Loaches are added, which in turn means the snails have been defeated.  Sadly the angelfish have passed (sorry Ron) and the 8 year old was done with his 20 gallon long, so I added his tetras and cories to my tank.   The Anubias has done very well and I have split it several times and it seems to thrive and multiply.  Here are the latest pics.

Also the shrimp are over 3 years old and going strong.

Looks vibrant! ThumbsUp I love that the shrimps have lived this long.

What are Berdsmore loaches? I've not heard of them. Do you have a pic?

You are known for your java fern, David, so I'm curious if it just died off, or if you decided to simply move it and keep this tank simple. I've been having some interesting issues with keeping java alive in certain tanks only (Steve Ruiz also, I believe) and I was just wondering!

The tank looks great, though, and I am a superfan of loaches!

Well a few things happened.  Long story short I removed it.

My lighting in the tank is a 48" T5 HO dual bulb fixture.   For a long time, I was running one 6500K bulb in there.  During that time, the Java fern was doing very well.  It was growing out of control and required a lot of maintenance and was constantly dropping little baby javas all over the tank.  Overall it was a very messy plant for me.

When my son no longer wanted his tank, he had champion Anubias in there that I liked more, and I didn't want to get rid of.

The bulb in the T5 burnt out and I replaced it, but also added back in the T5 Colormax.  I think this changed the balance of light that the java fern was thriving in so it got spotty leaves.  I decided I was done with it and got rid of it, and replaced it will all the anubias which I am enjoying much more.  Although I think the shrimp and loaches liked the hiding places that the java fern provided more. Smile
