I have two 36" Double Brights on my 125. I really like the lunar LEDs and less heat is always a plus. I have had them on the tank for about a month with no problems until yesterday.
I woke up and went into the living room to turn the lights on in the tank, Both were still shimmering the blue lights into the tank as normal. I then flipped the switches on both lights to turn on the day lights. One worked as usual and one just stopped. I flipped the switch off and back on and no dice scratch . I then unplugged the fixture to examine, I found nothing out of the ordinary. The one thing that I didn't like in the design was the gauge and insulation of the wire. The cord is two pieces, plug with male end, and light with female end. So I just plugged in the UUT (unit under test) in to the one existing light that is still working. Lights!!
I was very upset with the situation since I have 3 foot of tank with no light Mad ! I emailed Marineland about the problem, and I have got no response as of yet. I will keep everyone Updated.

So far Marineland Double Brights have a 50% failure rate at my house.

Bummer to hear. Hopefully they correct the issue. Knock on wood 2 of mine have been running almost a year with no issues (48 and 24) and I have just bought another 24.

So the power converter is bad?

Thanks I will give them a call tomorrow. I did call a 1800 number yesterday but it asked me a bunch of questions like "are you calling to ask why you need to do a water change?" Click!
I hate anything automated! Mad

now that's some great news to hear. I remember them lights, and would love to have some on my 180. It was great that mark had a number to cs. Being part of this great forum just keeps paying off more and more.

That's great! Marineland has always stood behind their products, in my experience. When one of their products fails, they send me a replacement. If one of their products changes, they send me the part that will make my old model work. All free of charge and very little questioning by the customer service person.

AQUEON has excellent customer service, too, should you ever need them.
Very Happy

Try this:

http://www.aqueonproducts.com/about/contact-us/

That is the form I used and it worked really well for me.

Of course, you may prefer to call.
The number is 1-800-255-4527 and it's also listed on the form.
Very Happy

I'm really glad to hear that you can get good customer service, and they stand behind their product. I've definitely heard good things about these lights, and they ought to last forever, considering the LEDs, so its reassuring to know they'll back you up.

I am very upset with this company. I called on the 27th of March and still nothing. I called them back today and asked about what was going on.
I spoke with the same lady who helped me last time. She told me the item was out of stock and they had a date for August. She said it should not take that long but it can.
So I waited 3 weeks to find this information out! What I don't understand is why she didn't inform me the item was out of stock when I first called Question Mad
So we spent good money $200+ on these LED lights from Marineland with warranty and I have to wait 5 months to get my product fixed. If they really cared about the customers this wouldn't be an issue.
She told me I could ship the whole unit back and they could replace it, shipping at my expense! Mad
Correct me if I am wrong....
She will send me a whole unit but will not open the box with the new unit in it and send me the part?
I am no longer going to support Marineland or anything from Spectrum Brands!

That is some backwards thinking. I'd call back and discuss the issue with someone who can make a better decision. Worst case is pack it up and pay the shipping.

We still need to call on ours, I'll have Sheila post up the out come afterwards.

wow, flip I am sorry to read the latest turn of events. Man that really sucks! I wish there was some way that everyone in the forum can call on your behalf. Complain until they make things right. There is no way they can be out of stock, and for that long? Something don't sound right.

Well I got a package from Marineland today. I was excited to have my 125 back to full lighting. I open the package unroll the new transformer and it doesn't fit Mad
So I look at the box and it is labeled for my light, but the male end is bent at a 90. I called Marineland again.
I spoke with a diffrent lady this time and explained the situation. She asked a few questions about the light and the problem was addressed. I seem to have the newer model of LED from them and they sent the old stlye. I complained once again and she apologized and said they were going to mail a whole new Light.
Now I wait with my fingers crossed hoping they correct this in a speedy manner. Rolling Eyes

So I finally got my package from Marineland. It arrived May 15th 2012. 50 days to correct this problem. That's almost 2 months on a product that was over $100 and still under warranty. I have not even opened the box as of yet because I am afraid they sent the wrong thing. If it is the old style light I will be calling them back. I really dislike Marineland after this encounter with thier staff and the amount of time it took them to fix the situation. I could of thought of a bunch of different ways to correct this in under a week and it took them 50 days (if the light is correct when I open it).

Wow. This is an aggravation that you don't need. Mad I have never had this kind of problem with Marineland and I'm really surprised that it took them so long to solve the probalem - if it IS solved, as you say. When you get it out of the box let us know if they sent you the correct product. At this point I'd expect them to give you a $20 credit or something just to make things right.

The light was a new model (same as purchased). Took 3 times for them to get it right. I'm glad I didn't send my old light back in. The transformer that they sent me a few weeks back is good, so I swapped out the male ends that were wrong. Now I have three working lights.

Sorry I have not updated this since I opened the package. Everything was correct and the new light works like the the other one .
On another note I have been contacted by a Rep from Marineland today and they are out looking for these trends. I will say we have a Marineland Rep on CVAS but I will not say who it is.

More updates to come........ Cool

Thanks for the update, Flip. I am glad to know that they finally corrected the problems, everything works, and now you can be hassle/stress free. And now you can really enjoy your tank.
