First topic message reminder :

Ok I went Aj today to just look around and took some pics. My girlfriend loves catfish but I don't have good luck with them so I steer clear. Anyways she hates plecos and I love them. She went to animal jungle today and got me two rhino plecos and really got into the ones she saw. So here are the ones she liked.

This one I forgot to take a picture of the tag but it was like almost $300. Nice looking pleco.
Pardon the horrible pics they were snapped off my phone .

I will give that a try. Where are you guys ordering the almond leaves from? I have seen pics of your tanks and I have seen Liz's tanks, so I totally trust you guys on this one. I will give it a try. Sounds better then blue and green chemicals burning my fish. Cool

I also have another question on the orange seem pleco? I know the tag said L-81 but on CP an L-81 is a gold nugget. I have seen L-106 but which is it?

The orange seam pleco is a Peckoltia species, L076.

L106 is Hemiancistrus guahiborum, the spotted orange seam pleco.

The common names are different.

That makes me wonder about this one

It has all the little spots on it. They had it labeled as L-81. I can get lost in the L numbers. There are sooooo many of them. I think I found my liking for catfish Very Happy

We've ordered about four times from this guy:
block-2@hotmail.com
His paypal account is:
bettawan@hotmail.com
Orders can be placed through the website:
www.bettawan.com

The orders are packaged neatly and arrive in a timely way. As said, we've ordered from him several times so I feel confident posting this information for all to see.
Very Happy

So I went into the woods across the street and got some leaves. These were at the base of the tree in a huge pile. I just picked up 6 of the fullest dry ones. Is this too many for a 29?

Six is about right for this project. sunny Don't forget to rinse them well in plain tap water, to get off any debris. Let them soak in tap water for a few minutes or more to discourage any tiny insects or parasites and then soak them for a few more minutes in dechlorinated water.

After all that, you can add them to the tank.

Once they soak a bit in the aquarium, the leaves will add back to the water some of the organic material and natural feeling of the original habitat. Are you interested in making oak leaf extract to add to the water?

*lol* I'll post some directions in the DIY section a little later. I'm on a borrowed computer and have a list to work from!

I might use your pic, if that's okay. We can work on it together, you supply the pic for each stage. It will make a nice article.
Very Happy

The leaves I put into the 29 started sinking. It looks pretty nice in the tank. I like the woodsy look.

The look is good and I'm sure we're doing the right thing for the Leporacanthicus. The leaves are already leaching out some of the good organics and by the time they sink a great benefit will have been provided to the tank. We won't overdo it, though! Let's see how he does with what's in there now.

Have either of you seen him eat anything yet? And if so WHAT?

btw, I checked out your tanks on YouTube yesterday! First time I've been able to, so it was quite a treat!
Very Happy

It has a Pimelodidae look to it and reminds me of Sorubim lima, but the exaggerated duckbill is throwing me off. That is all the guessing I'm going to do. As we speak, others are giving their opinions and I'll post back.

Two feet! So, you didn't buy it? Laughing

I was very close! Sorubimichthys planiceps. Definitely a Pim and a Sorubim relative.

Here is the info:
