| yesterday i went thru the process of tearing down my 75 gal. and transferring everything over to my new 180 gal. tank. while moving my lava rocks i found a great surprise. i had Leleupi fry. 6 of them. they were still so young they were black. 1 of them is starting to turn a little yellow. i didnt even know that i had a mating pair. the fry i have placed in a 10 gallon tank till they get some size to them. |

| Yes I still have them. 4-6 of them. they stay around the rocks. I have seen 1 Rusty fry and 1 Electric Blue fry too. They are all growing nicely. Thanks for asking.... _________________ This is the place where fish lovers brain storm, share pics, and talk about fish http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEd9pbj9MGY |

| That's fabulous!
One thing that affects leleupi color is the substrate and rock surroundings - if it is darker, the fish will be darker, so the babies were just trying to blend into the lava rock. So cool! _________________ My Blog My Youtube Channel

| I read somewhere that they need iodine in their diet/water to prevent goiter. Can anybody verify that? _________________ The Fighting Gobbler

| I think there are trace amounts of iodine in Lake Tanganyika. I've never lost a Tang cichlid or treated one for goiter, or any other ailment, for that matter. I think if the tap water is relatively hard, or is made hard by a cichlid buffer mixture, you'd be fine. Iodized salt can be used instead of aquarium salt, but for Tanganyikans only. _________________ My Blog My Youtube Channel
