I have a fluva 304 filter i am useing on my 125 gal cichlid tank my question is how do you guys set yours up my filter has 3 levels level 1 being the lowest

Level 1 - has carbon pullows ( carbon placed in side nylon)

I do my water changes on sundays when do the next change i planned on takeing out the carbon and posibble replaceing it with Fluval clear max phosphate remover product descrip

my nitrates run a little high not sure if its from the 2 plecos I have or the over feeding ( more likely over feedding) my wife constantly feeds the fry and I no the kids like to drop a pinch of food in when im not lookin

I would put the polishing pads on the top and all the media below.The canister flows up so your mechanical filtration should be on top for cleaner looking water.

Don't you put the coarse first, fine second and the rest in line?

And just to be the burden like vince's link stated, don't your ceramics/bio balls need to have oxygen as well as the water and ammonia flow for them to be good?

How do yall canister peeps supply oxygen to your ceramics/bio balls?

I'm thinking the sump situation is the perfect example of o2 being mixed with water flow.

I have a Fluval 305 (suppose to be the same as the 304) on my 30 long, I have been running it for about a month. I only have Fry in the tank so it's not like its filtering out much. But I hope that the 304 is not the only filter you are running on your 125 gal. if so, that is no where near enough filtration for it your tank. Please tell me that you are running another filter source.
