Hey thanks Brian , don't really have anything setup atm all i have is a air pump to start withATM Smile still weighing my options. Right now I'm thinking something small and easy to manage like a 20-30 gallon setup with some kind of dwarf cichlids what would be good for a 30 gallon tank that I can house a few fish? Pm me ur number man I lost it when my phone got changed over.

Hi Russ, Welcome back and glad to see your post. If you did not see we are having a meeting/cookout this Sunday 7/15/2012. We would love for you to come. Great opportunity to make some new friends, pick up some great ideas and leave us with some.
There are some really great deals on used tanks on Craigslist that you can pickup and save $$$.
Looking forward to your posts, pics of setup, and hearing about your fish.
Ron

agreed.! also getting your cichlids on CL is gonna save you a crap load of money. if your just looking to stock it with some fish to get started off. i have went around and hand selected mine to get choice offspring. the rusty's i got from mpowers and dunesnstars were very nice. but many people on cl (including myself) are selling the fry for like 1-3 bucks a piece. sometimes even full grown! Smile, let me know if your interested in some babies. i'll hook you up

Hi Russ, welcome to the site. I actually feel awkward welcoming you being that I have not been a member for even a week yet. Anyway look forward to learn more about your experience!

Hey Russ nice to see you posting on here. Good luck with your hunt for a new setup. I know you said 20/30 gallon but you may want to check out a 40 breeder as well. It has a better footprint if your going dwarf cichlids. Most of them stick to the bottom part of the tank so a 40B will give you more room to play with.

Ben is right on. A 40 breeder has half a square foot more then a 55 gallon.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes and info.
Yea I'd like to keep this cheap as possible . My last tank was a 40 breeder saltwater I love that footprint. Does anyone here sell any cichilds? Havent made up my mind yet on what I want quite yet. I've had zebras, yellow labs , an a electric blue before , of the three I liked the yellow labs the most but wanna try some other colorful fish this time,Karin's, rams, peacocks or ? Any suggestions?

I have some white tops, yellow labs if you want to go that route. Or, I should be receiving a package of German Rams tomorrow, getting 6 only want 3, will raise and just split original cost of 45 with you when you are good and ready.

i dont actually have any of the cobue. im not sure on their attitudes. most afras are aggressive. i have dwarf afras right now that stay at about 2 inches and i had a female breed under that size. however when we stock the new tank we will get more variety :

starry night tropheus,
cherry spot tropheus,
yellow top mbamba,
whte tops,
and i belive some demasoni and a couple others as well

Russ, I have some afras. White Top Haras and Cobues. White tops I have some fry. Cobues are all adults, approx 4-5. I would be willing to sell them. They were my first fish I bought online. They are F1, supposedly. They are not that light in color like the White tops, but definitely can see the orange blotch. Like any Mbuna they are rather territorial. If you wanted them for just a species tank they would be great in a 30-55. They are fun to watch chase each other around, dig in the sand, come to the surface(aggressively) when feed and even spawn(especially in a species tank).

I'll keep those in mind skins right now I need to concentrate on getting a setup. I know I said 20-30 but in all reality I won't be happy with that so I'm thinking 40b or a 55 gallon should do me
