| My name is Melinda. I just found this group today and am excited to have found local hobbyists. Right now I only have 3 severum, but I am anxious to rehome them so I can get another Malawi mbuna tank set up. Eventually I will set up a Tang tank with multies as well. All my love to those of you who fancy South American cichlids but my severum have to be the most BORING and uninspiring fish I have ever owned. |

| Welcome, Sakura! I'm glad you found us, and we look forward to learning more about your plans for your new setups. You have found a group with varied interests, but many an African tank owner can be found here! Don't judge all SA cichlids by the peaceful severum - there are many very interesting genera to be found. Keep in mind that I've just recently put aside my preference for Tang Africans and am now focusing on SA cichlids! _________________ My Blog My Youtube Channel

| Thank you. I know there are exciting South American cichlids but I think the very best ones require massive tanks or are best as single specimens. The peaceful severum took out an ancient pleco, firemouths, tetras, and barbs in the first two years I had them. I miss the constant activity of the African cichlids. |

| Welcome to the forum! I am the exact opposite lol. I got rid of my africans except for my shellies. I have some very interesting South American fish. Really depends on what you like. Great subject, you will find a lot of African keepers here. |

| Welcome to CVAS, Melinda! We're glad to have you and look forward to hearing more about your current and future set-ups. When it comes to cichlids, one label will not fit all! _________________ Avatar: Spiky Nerite Snail, Clithon diadema.

| Welcome Melinda! Glad to have you join. I'm with you on the SA's. I have a 75 with all Mbuna's and a 90 with all Peacocks. I like the activity, color, and such. Aggression can sometimes be a problem, but I have kept both tanks crowded which holds down injuies and death. So far..knock on wood...I have been quite successful and happy. As mentioned above we have members with just about everything and excellent advice and opinions freely offered. Looking forward to hearing more from you, and hearing about your switch back to Africans. Don't forget we are having a membership meeting 9/16. Should be a lot of fun and great opportunity to meet some of us, make new friends, learn a little, share a little, and etc. Ron _________________ Dear Karma, I have a list of people that you missed.

| Thank you for the warm welcome. My severum are indeed very fiesty and sedate and I look forward to replacing them. I am researching possible candidates now. One of them has suddenly decided the tank is and keeps the other two severum cornered in opposite sides of the tank, which makes the issue more pressing! |
