Here's a great site that helps you calculate how fully your tank is stocked, and also whether you have adequate filtration.

A cool thing is that they utilize 65% of the filter manufacturer's rating in their calculator, since the official rating by the maker will always be much higher, and under real life conditions you probably need more filtration than what it says on the box.

They also give notations to you about the species you are keep together, like whether they have the same water or temp requirements, or, for example, they'll note that you need driftwood for certain species of pleco. There is also a way to make your calculations based on adult versus juvenile fish.

A very helpful calc! Very Happy

Well I'm about 600% filtered on my 150, and 67% stocked. Hmm. I took away one of my filters and got it down to 300% filtered lol!

That site is so much fun to play with!

Thank you! That is an outstanding link. My results were expected. I'm way overstocked, don't have enough filtering capacity and I must maintain high percentage water changes twice a week. I'm enjoying the show. Friends and family are entertained by the activity too but after the holidays I'm getting rid of some adult Angelfish. Neutral
