I've kept both in the past. The Bolivians were a little more territorial, but no real issues. I had them in a 75 with a lot of rocks and plants (fake and alive combo). They are both awesome fish with fun personality. Always liked how they acted tough but never really hurt each other. Little guys with attitude!

Bolivians and Germans have two different temperature requirements. I can't remember which one but one requires a lot higher temps. If you end up with the higher temp ram your choices for tank mates and live plants start to dwindle. Hope this helps.

The bolivians have a bunch of different temps online. This has become a real big discussion in the hobby. I have seen the temp ranges on average around 81f. I would do a little bit more research on the subject if I were you. Also I did get your pm. I have a guy who wanted all of them but have not been in contact with him. I emailed him yesterday. Not to sure on the height of the 33 for angels. I will let you know once I get some feedback from him.

Angel Juvieniles will do fine with your height but, once they start to mature they will need a taller tank, I have 2 pairs of mature angels and i could not imagine them in a 12" tall tank.

Rainbow cichlids would be a great alternative to angels, great community fish and would do fine with rams.

Rainbow as in Australian rainbows or the brown cichlid called rainbow cichlid? Common names are so confusing lol. I think both of the rainbows would work.

I will clarify, I agree common names can be confusing. Thanks Flip for holding me up to a higher standard.

this is the fish I am referring to, Herotilapia Multispinosa I think this would be a great addition to your new 33L.

If you cant find any in your area i believe i can get my hands on some fry.

Thanks for the genus and species, I should have known since you said cichlid but wanted to make sure. Russ they do have them at animal jungle regularly.

If you could get a pair that would be best if not the standard 6 juvies until you find a pair then sell or setup other tanks for them
