Are they really green?...

Or are they stronger in blue tones like Neon's

Any Richmond Fish Stores carrying them?

I'm referring to: Paracheirodon simulans - Not Glowfish Green Tetra's

Skoolz had some about a week ago. You might give him a call or stop in

Ron is right. Rama usually has a tank of these fish. He told Liz and me he likes them better than other neon-type tetras but I forget the reason. It's something different, anyway. Do call him first from where you are to make sure he will be there.
Very Happy

Have you guys seen them, are they really green?

I know, I know they are called green tetras but the images I've seen look more blueish...

I will give Rama a call - thanks for letting me know he has them!!!!

Gundog, when I saw them they appeared green. The neon stripe showed as a metallic green and not blue. Whether the stripe appears more blue or more green may depend on the lighting provided and the angle at which its seen. Rama's looked green to me. Very Happy

Both P.innesi and P.simulans can look either blue or green depending on the type and angle of light. I saw both species together once under the same light and didnt notice any obvious difference in the metallic stripe color. The length of the blue-green stripe is the way to tell them apart - it's longer in simulans. However, maybe their colors DO look distinctly different under some types of light -- maybe in direct sunlight or full-spectrum? (just guessing).

Green neons appear to be more slender than regular neons. They will most often display a neon greenish tint but sometimes look as blue as a cardinal. The defining characteristic IMO is that they don't have a horizontal red stripe that extends across their whole body. Most people that see them think they are cardinals. They sell quick. I got 200 in a few weeks ago and only have about 10 or so left. I should be getting more in this week.

The reason why I like them is because they are very hardy. With exception to being shipped small and tasty to other fish, they usually adapt to a wide range of water parameters.

I'm working on a tannis stained Apisto set up.

I think the green neons will look great in the stained water....

I'm waiting on a couple more items to arrive and once they do I will shout at you Rama...
